Social Media and Sport Studies (2014–2023): A Critical Review

Building on the foundational study conducted by Abeza et al., this work extends investigation critically reviewing social media research in sport studies published from June 2014 to 2023. Methodologically, review involved an examination of 153 original articles five prominent journals communication and management, namely International Journal Sport Communication , & Management Review European Quarterly . The identified streams, platforms, theories, methods that have garnered attention community. findings reveal several key insights contribute ongoing dialogue field, stimulating further exploration advancing knowledge at intersection sport.
